Terms & Conditions
Effective date: July 6, 2026
GutPattern (“GutPattern,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is operated by GutPattern. You can reach us through our Contact page.
By creating an account or using GutPattern (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
What GutPattern is
GutPattern organizes patient-reported gut health stories so people can compare symptoms, treatments, and outcomes. It is an information and comparison tool — not a medical service, and not a substitute for professional care. Please read our Medical Disclaimer, which is part of these Terms.
Who can use GutPattern
- You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to create an account or contribute a story.
- GutPattern is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
- You must be able to lawfully consent to sharing health information in your jurisdiction.
Your account
- You’re responsible for keeping your login secure and for everything that happens under your account.
- Provide accurate information when you register, and keep it current.
- Tell us promptly (through Contact) if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, crawl, bulk-download, or otherwise copy the database or its contents outside the normal use of the site.
- Break, overload, probe, or reverse-engineer the Service, or bypass any security or access controls.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to harm, harass, defraud, impersonate, or mislead others.
- Post false, misleading, or fabricated health outcomes, or content that isn’t yours to share.
- Use the Service or its data for commercial purposes, resale, model training, or redistribution without our prior written permission.
- Post spam, malware, or undisclosed promotional or commercial content.
See our Community Guidelines for the full standard we hold contributions to.
Stories and content you contribute
- You keep ownership of the stories and content you create.
- By publishing content, you grant GutPattern a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, and adapt it for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.
- Only where you have opted in, you also grant us a license to include your contributions in de-identified patterns and datasets that we may license or sell to outside organizations (such as clinicians, researchers, health companies, biotech organizations, and other commercial partners). This is governed by our Privacy Policy, and you control and can change these opt-ins in your account.
- Only share what’s yours to share. Don’t post other people’s private or identifiable information.
- You are responsible for your content and confirm you have the rights to share it.
Moderation, reporting, and appeals
- We may edit content for clarity — never to change your reported outcome — or remove content that breaks these Terms or our Community Guidelines.
- Serious or repeated violations can lead to suspension or removal of your account.
- If you believe content violates our rules, you can report it through Contact. If we’ve removed your content or account and you think it was a mistake, you can appeal by contacting us, and we’ll review.
Practitioner matching
If you opt in to practitioner matching, we may share details you provide with a matched practitioner or provider. GutPattern does not employ, endorse, certify, or supervise any practitioner, is not a party to any relationship you form with them, and is not responsible for the care or advice they provide. See our Privacy Policy for how this data is handled.
Data licensing
Where you have opted in, GutPattern may license or sell de-identified data and patterns to outside organizations. This never includes information that personally identifies you, except for the practitioner matching you specifically request. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Third-party links
The Service may link to third-party sites or resources (including methodology sources and practitioner information). We don’t control and aren’t responsible for their content, policies, or practices.
Accuracy and integrity
We work hard to represent reported experiences faithfully and never to reshape a story or alter an outcome. But contributions are self-reported, and we can’t guarantee they are accurate, complete, or verified. See our Medical Disclaimer.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, GutPattern and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any decisions you make based on the Service. Your health decisions are your own — make them with a qualified clinician. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless GutPattern and its operators from claims, damages, and expenses arising out of your content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms.
Suspension, termination, and account deletion
- You can delete your account at any time from your account settings, or by contacting us. You can also request a copy of your data. See our Privacy Policy for how deletion and export work.
- We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service.
Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may change, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service, and we may update these Terms as GutPattern grows. When we make material changes, we’ll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify account holders. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Nevada, unless applicable law requires otherwise. Before filing anything, please contact us — most issues can be resolved informally.
