The story

I have been dealing with IBS-D (diarrhea, gas, and intestinal spasms) for 5 years. A doctor diagnosed me with fructose intolerance. After following a reset diet for a month, I recovered, but as time went on, I didn't feel as good as before. So, he had me take a SIBO test, and I tested positive for hydrogen at 90 ppm (in October 2024).

He then prescribed me two rounds of Xifaxan and a very strict diet based on a "non-allergic (non-IgE and non-IgG) cellular hypersensitivity, confirmed by a positive cell-mediated test (3GTLH)". On this diet, I had to avoid certain foods and their related cross-reactive foods for 6 months—I couldn't even have trace amounts reaching my intestines.

After such a strict diet, I became very anxious, and all the antibiotic rounds he prescribed only worsened my situation. So I got tested again, but this time I got a mixed SIBO result (in November 2025). What did he do this time? He prescribed me even more antibiotics: Xifaxan and Neomycin. Obviously, I felt even worse after taking them.

I couldn't trust this doctor anymore, so I switched to a different dietitian, who prescribed me:

1 month of CleanIntest NPro + Biocidin + lactoferrin;

1 month of Berberine (2 capsules of 800 mg per day) + Clean Gut by Be Levels (3 times per day, which contains Sea Buckthorn Oil 900 mg—25% Palmitoleic Acid, Black Cumin Oil 150 mg, and Oregano Essential Oil 100 mg—80% Carvacrol);

and 2 months of Oregano Oil A.D.P. (50 mg, 3 times per day) + Neem extract (500 mg, 3 times per day).

However, I've been yellow/green watery fluid for 3 days with no solid meals. I have never felt so bad, so it's clear that I need to find a new practitioner because he's not considering to change the plan very much

Important

This is one person's reported experience aggregated by GutPattern, not clinical advice, a treatment protocol, or a diagnosis. What helped one contributor can do nothing — or harm — for someone with a different underlying cause. Sudden, severe, bloody, feverish, or worsening symptoms belong with medical care. Always discuss care decisions with a qualified clinician.
