The story

I’ve been possibly struggling with SIBO for years. I don’t know when it started but I’ve always had stress and was diagnosed with hashimotos around a decade ago, so possibly those factors.

My bloating and everything gets much worse when I’m stressed it seems. I’ve been slowly getting better with consistent exercise but it’s still hard sometimes and affects my mood.

The thing that affects me the worst is sugar and carbs. It ruins me. I get really fatigued, sleepy or have neuro symptoms and I just want this thing gone. I thought I was diabetic or something but my blood tests look good honestly. So not sure if SIBO is causing hypoglycemia like symptoms?

I was confirmed with methane SIBO but haven’t started any rounds yet because Rifaximin is not covered by my health insurance.

Sugar, in general, is pretty awful for humans. It makes sense that you don't feel good after eating it. If you do have Hydrogen producers (which might not show on your breath test if your Methane producers are working in synergy with them) then those organisms will eat it readily. Rifaximin is also available from Canadian and Indian pharmacies for less money. That said, it's unlikely to do much by itself for the methane IMO. Personally I've had better symptoms reduction by switching to a phytogenic diet (i.e. superfoods), and lots of exercise. Keep us updated!(edited)
