The story

I've tried almost all treatments out there. I've had this since 2009, and I've had food poisoning in the past so I think it might stem from there. I've had both methane and hydrogen SIBO confirmed by breath test. I was fine, moved to a new city and shortly after everything changed. I have trapped burps/gas always, and it gets worse when I'm trying to sleep, drive or fly in a plane. I always have to manage my symptoms. I've tried all the diet protocols, Xifaxin, worked with several gastroenterologists, nothing. I've done Low fodmap, elemental, herbal antimicrobials, no processed food whatsoever, nothing ever touched it. I think I might have some vagus nerve issues, slow motility. I do have mild GERD, but not the burning kind. I don't want to take PPIs.

Now I am trying a motility supplement as a last resort. (Sibo MMC). I can't take ginger and artichoke because I'm allergic to artichoke.

Important

This is one person's reported experience aggregated by GutPattern, not clinical advice, a treatment protocol, or a diagnosis. What helped one contributor can do nothing — or harm — for someone with a different underlying cause. Sudden, severe, bloody, feverish, or worsening symptoms belong with medical care. Always discuss care decisions with a qualified clinician.
